A toxic relation

from €10.00

The Cinnabar moth (de 'zebrarups' van de Sint-jacobsvlinder), on its favorite plant, the Ragwort (Jakobskruiskruid). It’s a poisonous plants for many animals, but this moth actually uses its toxins for its own defence. Once it popates, it will be black and red and look nothing like this yellow and black striped caterpillar. It will still be poisenous to other animals though, as the toxins it absorbed will protect it for its lifetime.
